Again, it involved self portraits, but this time altering the photographs. To get them started we asked them: how do they see themselves, how do others see them and how do they want to be seen? Once again, I set-up a backdrop and with each student I asked them these questions. They just seemed to open up to me which pleasantly surprised me.
Then they had to create three different images. One had to include text, another had to be a collage and the last could be their choice.
Along with them, Roxane and I also created three pieces of art (so fun!). Each week for two months I came in and helped with their artwork. The end result was their first gallery show at Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design. It was an honor to be asked to come play, I mean work with her students. Thanks Rox!
