Happy February to the Valentines, Galentines, and all other loved ones!

Let’s face it: February in Wisconsin can be hard.

It’s dark out, so very cold, and the summertime excitement and feelings of togetherness feel like they’re an eternity away.

However, for me, this month is also filled with wintertime magic.

I love snowfall photo shoots, trudging through the tundra during my location scouting, and making time to sit back and contemplate the warmth that I’ve felt from everyone who has supported my work over the years. To everyone who has followed my pages on social media, visited my website, or even subscribed to this newsletter, THANK YOU!

No matter the temperature outside, I feel all the love. And I want you to feel it too!

I’m inviting you to take a moment to Sit, Stay, & Smile on this chilly February day.

photo shoots are for all loved ones!

This February, I want to highlight Valentines, Galentines, and all other loved ones by capturing moments spent together.

This includes families, couples of all genders, best friends, your furry family, and everything in between!

Photography, for me, is never just about the shot; it’s about the feeling, the genuine laugh that slips out between poses, the way your dog tilts their head when you say a certain word, that “look” that represents a lifetime of inside jokes with your childhood friend, and all the moments where you find you’re actually enjoying getting your photo taken.

I know a lot of folks feel awkward or nervous about having a camera in front of them.

I totally get it!

That’s why I create a space that’s easy, casual, and genuinely fun with no stiff posing and no pressure. I invite you to hang out while I do what I do best: notice the real moments and capture them honestly.

With decades of experience as a location scout, I also know exactly how to find the right spot for your session, and I always arrive with a plan (and a backup plan), so you can relax, trust the process, and simply be yourself.

What could be better home decor than photos of everyone you love hanging on the walls?

WINTERTIME MAGIC

Who says photo shoots are only for the warmer months?

Some of my favorite captures have happened during the colder months when the Midwest has that pure white glow.

As a location scout, I know all of the best places to take the best photographs at any time of the year.

Let’s capture some playful moments in the winter wonderland this season!

Get in touch today for your “glow-in-the-snow” photo session.

Location scouting IS YEAR-ROUND!

Winter doesn’t slow my location scouting down. If anything, it gets even more exciting. The quieter months often lead to some of my favorite discoveries, and there’s a particular kind of magic in a Wisconsin winter that deserves to be captured more often.

Location scouting is the art of finding spaces that bring a story to life, and I work with creatives from all over to thoughtfully pair projects with the right setting. Part detective and part dot-connector, I’ve spent decades uncovering and securing locations for national commercials, print, and video productions across Wisconsin, meeting endlessly interesting people and discovering places you’d never find by accident.

I’m frequently asked for everything from cozy homes and lake houses to workshops, offices, clinics, hospital settings, and farmland. While I scout primarily in Milwaukee, Madison, and Green Bay, I’m always happy to explore anywhere in the state depending on the project.

If you have a space that feels camera-ready, I’d love to hear about it!

UPCOMING GALLERY SHOWS

Wisconsin Craft’s “Creative Playground”

I am thrilled to announce that I am co-chairing this year’s Wisconsin Craft Members Exhibition, “Creative Playground: Working in Collaboration,” with my dear friend and fellow artist Roxane Mayeur!

Here is a quick bio of this show that celebrates the creative process:

“Engaging in playful collaboration allows us to break down barriers and encourages innovative thinking. It creates an environment where creativity and imagination can flourish, fostering a sense of fellowship and mutual respect.  By blending artistic techniques, we can spark new ideas, find joy in the process, and expand our creative repertoires.”
